I was only able to visit the two main locations for BOS 2006. The MCA and AGNSW.
I thought the access to the interviews were great in having a better understanding of their art work.
Hopefully I would get the chance to visit the other locations..
I was lucky enough yesterday to take a trip to the gallery and see Giacometti's lithographs and sculptures..

Alberto Giacometti
*Swiss born (1901-1966)

*spoon woman-influences from primitive sculpture, representative of fertility
*cubism, surrealism, modernism, primitive
*work described to embodying the spirit of existentialism (search for reality beyond physical reality).
*Wife-Anette, mother -Anetta (very influential in Giacometti's art)
*Bust of Diego-Younger brother of 13 months
*Influenced by Surrealism in his early works..
*Sculptures of men (active stance) vs sculptures of women (still stance).
* Representation of women-Goddess like, fertility,
*Models- Brother Diego, Anetta, Anette, Caroline (lover).
*Worked with plaster and clay.
*Studied under sculpter who studied under Rodin.
I find drawing the hand very fascinating.. the many folds and shadows appear to be an everchanging landscape...
